Keying interface for IC-706.

Icom's IC-706 compact transceiver is intended for mobile use, but its small size also appeals to DXpeditioners. Unfortunately, Icom designers decided against installing a T/R (transmit/receive) control line output for interfacing an external power amplifier. The circuit presented here provides that interface.
A 13-pin DIN connector on the rear panel of the rig has a bidirectional control pin named HSEND (HF Send). In receive mode, it is pulled to +8V through approximately 1.2k. When transmitting, HSEND is about zero volts. Since it is bidirectional, grounding HSEND externally will also place the transceiver in transmit mode. The characteristics of this pin prevent its use as a direct T/R signal for most amplifiers it only sinks about 6mA, and most amplifier control lines pull higher than 8V. Directly connecting HSEND to a typical amplifier could damage the IC-706.
If you own a legacy HF amplifier( 30L-1, SB200/201 KW600/1000 YAESU FL line etc)  that have high voltage (120 V) switching or spiking issues you must use in series of the Q2 Collector a relay having a C to NO contact.

Κατασκευή ενός ενδιαμέσου για την ενεργοποίηση γραμμικών ενισχυτών από το IC-706 αλλά κι άλλων παρόμοιων ενισχυτών από παρόμοιους πομποδέκτες.

Αν ο ενισχυτής αρκείται στο να δει ΓΗ για να ενεργοποιηθεί, το κύκλωμα ως έχει είναι αρκετό. Στην περίπτωση των παλαιών καλών ενισχυτών του τύπου 30L-1 ή SB200/201 KW600/1000 YAESU σειρά FL κλπ

θα πρέπει να συνδέσετε ένα 12V ρελέ σε σειρά με τον Συλλέκτη του Q2.

IC-706 tune control activator. rev1.1 update

I found another plug into my junk-room so I decided to make a bigger and better looking version of my home-brewed ICOM tuner activator. Alas my minimalist attitude always succeeds over my spontaneous will to spread my circuits on a standard Eurocard pcb.  

Nevertheless if you decide to build it, going by the photos it will be more easy the the first version!
I used the Drew VK3XU paddy-board method and I managed to fit the pcb snugly to the back of my plug. It doesn't matter if its not the very same used by ICOM. At the back they are all the same as long as they are the 4 pin type of course!
Mind you that I don't use the 2N2222 transistor, I given their merits I think it is a kind of sacrilege to use this Tr as a switch, so I use the 2N3904 instead!
The activator works like a treat making the IC-706 to give a 10'' 10Watts output, enough time to tune a random wire antenna or anything like.
It can work with the most ICOM's tranceivers like IC-706/mkI/mkIIG, IC-703, IC-7000, IC-7300 etc.

Βρήκα ένα ακόμα φις κι αποφάσισα να κάνω την κατασκευή μεγαλύτερη και πιό πρακτική. Πρακτική ναι, μεγαλύτερη όχι! Έτσι όπως μου βγήκε, παρ όλη την καλή μου διάθεση!

Πραγματικά δεν είναι δύσκολο να φτιαχτεί κι ούτε υπάρχουν κρίσιμα υλικά ή ρυθμίσεις.
Αν μπορώ να βοηθήσω... σχόλιο, μέηλ, μήνυμα, ότι σας φωτίσει ο Θεός!hi! hi!

IC-706 tune control activator.

Internet is full of diagrams and my soldering iron was hot enough!

It is inconvenient to change to CW mode every time I move frequency or band with my IC-706 radio, so I home-brew an activator.
You don't have to build it so tight the way I do my staff. As long as you can find the appropriate Molex plug (or a four male pin plug from an old PC power supply) you can made it in a pcb as big as you like!
It doesn't matter, as long as you do melt some solder!

Κύκλωμα ενεργοποίησης του TUNE στο IC-706.
Δεν είναι δύσκολο να φτιαχτεί και δεν υπάρχει λόγος να φτιαχτεί τόσο στριμόχωρα όσο το δικό μου.
Αν δεν έχετε τον ειδικό κονέκτορα, κάντε μια βόλτα από ένα κομπιουτεράδικο ή ψάξτε για παλιά τροφοδοτικά Η/Υ στην αποθήκη σας. Σίγουρα θα βρείτε ένα αρσενικό τετραπόδαρο και αφού κόψετε τις άκρες του πλαστικού θα ταιριάζει μιά χαρά! Αν έχει στην άκρη του και το κύκλωμα, ακόμα καλύτερα!
