Icom IC-7300 review plus another FT-991 vs IC-7300 comparison!

In August 2015 at the Tokyo Hamfair, Icom debuted a new type of transceiver in their product line––one featuring a direct RF sampling receiver. Essentially, it was an SDR tabletoptransceiver.

At about the same time that the IC-7300 started shipping around the world, Icom pulled their venerable IC-7200 off the market. Yet the IC-7200 was established as a well-loved product, due to its highly sensitive receiver, its relatively robust front end, and its quality audio. Moreover, it was simple to operate, which made superb as a Field Day or radio club rig.

Therefore, even though the IC-7300 promised much more versatility than the IC-7200, for its price point it had a tough act to follow.

So, of course––even more so than with any other radio Icom has introduced in the past few years––I was eager to get my hands on a IC-7300.  I’m very fortunate that my good friend, Dave Anderson (K4SV) was one of the first purchasers of the IC-7300, and that he didn’t mind (after only having the rig perhaps one week!) allowing me to borrow it for a several weeks for evaluation.

Note:  I should state here that since this rig was loaned to me, I evaluated it based on the firmware version it shipped with, and made no modifications to it.

IC-7300 vs FT-991 40m SSB

Again in that test the FT-991 sounds better that its opponent IC-7300. I can't afford any of them and I can't advise on any of them. They say, the best CW filter lies between your ears. Just us it !

Άλλο ένα ηχητικό τεστ μεταξύ των FT-991και IC-7300. Στα δικά μου αυτιά το YAESU ακούγεται καλύτερα. Ή για να το διατυπώσω διαφορετικά, ακούγεται έτσι όπως ΕΓΩ θέλω να ακούω! Τις τεχνικές παραμέτρους του IC-7300 τις διάβασα στο Sherwood Eng. Αξιολογότατες κι αρκετά επάνω από κάποια μοδέλα της YAESU. Ατυχώς μέχρι και χτες δεν είχε στην λίστα του το FT-991 για να το αντιπαραβάλω. Θα συνιστούσα ΟΧΙ βιασύνη. Μπορεί ο π/δ να είναι SDR τεχνολογίας αλλά και το hardware έχει την σημασία του. Οι περισσότεροι παραπονούνται για υπερφόρτωση της εισόδου. Αν πραγματικά είναι έτσι, ίσως η νέα παρτίδα να έχει βελτιωμένα φίλτρα στην είσοδο. Μία είσοδος "χωνί", αν μου επιτρέπετε την έκφραση, δεν διορθώνεται με κανένα software update παρά μόνο με καλύτερο σχεδιασμό φίλτρων και χρήση ηλεκτρονικών εξαρτημάτων.             Στα υπέρ και στα κατά, του παρουσιαστή, όλα είναι καλά και το μόνο που διαπιστώνει είναι η έλλειψη δεύτερου κοννέκτορα κεραίας, το άμεσο ξεκίνημα του ανεμιστήρα κι ότι το έντυπο εγχειρίδιο χρήσης δεν τα καλύπτει όλα και πρέπει να ανατρέξετε στο CD! Είπαμε να αβαντάρουμε, αλλά όχι κι έτσι! 

Icom IC-7300 vs Yaesu FT-991 80m SSB Comparison

Listening to YAESU FT-991 is like listening to an AM radio with an excellent audio system and speaker.

ICOM IC-7300 sounds like a real SSB radio listening the Lower Side Band.

For that reason and only, I would choose YAESU FT-991!

Ακούγοντας τους δύο π/δ, έτσι όπως τους παρουσιάζει ο Martin, θα αγόραζα τον YAESU! Δεν είμαι κοντέστερ για να προσπαθώ να πιάσω τις περισσότερες επαφές μέσα στην ώρα, ούτε θέλω να αγχώνομαι. Ο ήχος του FT-991 είναι τόσο μελωδικός που μπορώ να πώ ότι φτάνει κοντά σε αυτόν του TS-830s!

Ο Thomas θέλει να μάθει ποιό από τα δύο μηχανήματα ακούει καλύτερα βάση των ηχογραφήσεων τις οποίες έχει κάνει. Τα αποτελέσματα θα ανακοινωθούν μετά τις 27 Απριλίου. Υποκειμενική είναι η ψήφος και η "κάλπη" γκαστρωμένη!
Για να δούμε τι θα ...ακούσουμε!

Baofeng UV-7300

It is a 7300 radio indeed!
A Baofeng one!
The Baofeng brand cut it's teeth on HF radios producing the UV-7300 model.
Time will show if it worth it or not though the specs seems to be on the right side.
p.s. pay attention to the English translation. The usual Chinese gibberish!

Ένας νέος πομποδέκτης στην αγορά από την Baofeng. Είναι το μοντέλο UV-7300 το οποίο συμπίπτει με ένα άλλο 7300 μοντέλο του "ανταγωνιστή". Με το γνωστό θράσος τους οι Κινέζοι δεν διστάζουν να το διαφημίσουν με το μικρόφωνο του "ανταγωνιστή"!
